Congratulations to DC McMillen!
DC won the copy of Malia's Cop Craving!
Steve and I welcome Malia Mallory this week. Malia and her hubby just became proud parents. The little one is just two weeks old! So between feeding and diapers changes Malia will be here to reply to and answer any questions in your comments.
First a little bit about Malia:
First a little bit about Malia:
Malia Mallory is the author of The ABCs of Erotica
series, which includes so far A is for Anal, B is for Beach, C
is for Cock Ring D is for Domination, and now, R is for Revenge.
The ABCs of Erotica covers the erotic spectrum from BDSM to ménage and
everything in between. More releases in the series are on the way. She has also
released Mia's Cop Craving and Santa's Backdoor Baby. She has hit
the bestselling erotica lists at both Amazon and iTunes. Her books are
available in electronic format at major retailers like Amazon, Barnes &
Noble, iTunes and All Romance Books.
Just for Malia, we're at the beach this week! I think she could use a break and a drink with one of those little umbrellas.
Brenda & Steve: Malia, welcome to our blog! We’re so excited you could join us for a chat. When did you first decide to submit your work to be published? Tell us what or who encouraged you to take this big step.
Malia: Thank you so much for hosting me! I've been toying
with writing for a long time. In the past, I'd spend some time on a project but
then get discouraged before it really went anywhere. Last year, on the spur of
the moment, I entered a writing contest with an erotica piece I'd been working
on. Though I didn't win, I was a finalist. This lit a fire under me and I
polished up some of my work and self-published.
Brenda & Steve: Please tell us a little about your new
release The ABCs of Erotica - R is for
Revenge without giving too much of a spoiler away.
Malia: I'm behind on releases since my baby was literally
just born. I am working on a sequel to Mia's
Cop Craving which I hope to release soon. My most recent release was part
of The ABCs of Erotica. It is
entitled R is for Revenge and is a
very light BDSM story about a heroine that gets back at her boss for treating
her badly.
Brenda & Steve: Do you plan all your characters out
before you start a story or do they develop as you write?
Malia: Sometimes I have a good idea where a character is
going before I start. However, sometimes characters seem to take on a life of
their own and want to go in surprising directions.
Brenda & Steve: How much research do you do for your
books? Have you found any cool tidbits in your research?
Malia: I do some research. For instance, when I wrote The ABCs of Erotica - C is for Cock Ring
I did some further research on that particular toy. I wanted to make sure I
didn't misrepresent anything and that what I depicted was safe. For D is for Domination, I also did some
further "toy" research because I was searching for some particular
items that my characters were going to use.
When I was doing the research, I did come across some items that fueled
my imagination and will be included in another story that is currently in
progress, Clockwork Caning.
Brenda & Steve: What is your writing process? Do you
outline, write by the seat of your pants (Pantser) or a combination of both?
Malia: I've been pretty much a pantser but I'm really trying
to work on that. I have been trying to make some very brief outlines. My hope
is that this will make my work time more productive.
Brenda & Steve: Do you write full time? What did you do
before you became a writer or still do?
Malia: I have a "real" job that I'm on a leave
from due to health and maternity etc. I wish I could write "full
time" but there are so many things that interfere with this - even without
a day job at the moment. I need to be more disciplined about carving out the
needed time.
Brenda & Steve: Do you have a ritual when it comes to
writing? Example….get coffee, blanket, paper, pen, laptop and a comfy place.
Malia: I suppose I do because I am a terrible
procrastinator. I like to check my email…and Twitter and do all sorts of things
THEN try to get down to writing. I need to curtail that for sure. I usually
write in the living room - no dedicated space as yet.
Brenda & Steve: Oh, we know all about getting stuck on Facebook and Twitter, then commenting on blogs. We too need to discipline our time better! Describe a typical writing day for you.
Malia: Wow - with the new addition, nothing seems typical
any more. I'm usually tired in the morning from being up so much at night. I
used to get up mid-morning, walk the dog, eat and then try to get down to doing
some work. I'm hoping to get back to that.
Brenda & Steve: Yes, babies will change your life. Just don't leave the house and forget the baby (this really happened to my friend and her hubby - funny now but not then for them). Please give us a sneak peek at your future
books. What’s on the horizon?
Malia: I am currently working on a steampunk erotica piece
entitled Clockwork Caning. It is
about a newly married Victorian couple. To the initial dismay of the bride, her
husband has not shared some of his interests prior to their marriage. The other
item in the pipeline is Mia's Cop Craving
2 - Double Teamed. In the first book, Mia fulfilled her police officer
fantasy. In the second book, her new lover helps her fulfill another of her
fantasies - being with two men.
Brenda & Steve: What is your favorite genre to read and
who is your favorite author?
Malia: I read quite a bit of romance and historical romance.
I'm a big fan of Amanda Quick and Julia Quinn. I also like J.D. Robb police procedurals. I'll read just about anything if it is good.
Brenda & Steve: Is there anything else you would like to
tell the readers we have not touched on?
Malia: I have a story from The ABCs of Erotica called A
is for Anal that is free at ebook retailers. This might be a good way for
people to check me out.
Anyone who signs up for my mailing list (http://www.maliamallory.com/Join_My_Mailing_List.php)

you and find your books on the web?

also (http://abcsoferotica.wordpress.com). Readers can also find me on Twitter and
Facebook.

Excerpt:
The ABCs of Erotica -
R is for Revenge
Michael opened the
end table drawer, revealing a variety of items including a scarf, a mask and a
ping pong paddle.
Victoria moved to
look more closely. “Oh my, what do we have here?” She reached inside and pulled
out an exceptionally long scarf.
Michael took it
from her. “I think I know something we can do with this.”
She took a deep
breath. “Yes.” Her simple response was not only agreement, it was acquiescence.
“Take off your
blouse.” Michael’s voice was firm.
“Michael….”
Victoria hesitated.
Michael tossed the
scarf back into the drawer. “It’s up to you Victoria.”
She took a deep
breath and then unbuttoned her blouse. She pulled it out of the waistband of
her skirt and tossed it on the couch. Through the slats, Grace viewed
Victoria’s bright red, lacy bra. The bitch had certainly come prepared.
Michael reached
out his index finger and traced the edge of the scalloped lace then retrieved
the scarf. He tossed one end up over an exposed ceiling beam and pulled the
ends even.
He gave Victoria a
questioning look. “Well?”
Her face was
flushed, and her eyes bright. She simply nodded.
