Kay Dee is celebrating her latest release One Plus One released today, Friday Dec 30.

Blurb:

Coerced by her friend, Lacinda, a woman crushed by love, winds up on a three-week singles cruise.

Blade, a man of means, discovers Miss Right under the guise of a singles cruise set up by his business partner.

Once Blade focuses his efforts he always gets what he’s after, until Lacinda throws his arrogant reputation back in his face.

Can Blade break through Lacinda’s angry barriers? Will she ever see him as anything more than a player?

Excerpt:

“Lacinda Gainesly,” a steward called her name. She saw the sign he held with her name printed in bright purple. She slipped on the first step leading down onto the ship and stumbled past the steward. The sign dropped from his fingers and his arms latched around her body from behind. His quick reflexes saved her face from biting the deck, but his hands cupped both of her breasts and squeezed. Lacinda threw her elbow back into his side.

“Hey, a little respect for the guy who saved your life.”

Lacinda shrugged out of his grasp. She met his gaze and realized this was the same man who picked her up from her hotel in a long black limo, only then he was dressed in black instead of the white uniform he now wore.

“You’re the driver.”

“I’m a lot of things, like possibly a hero.” His eyes looked as happy as his lips.

She noticed his smile, the same he shared earlier when he asked her questions about why she took the cruise quiz. Lacinda thought he was simply a driver for the cruise company so she shared some of her story. He knew about Alex dying in a car crash on the way to their wedding. She searched her memory for anything else she might have shared which could embarrass her later.

“Alas fair maiden, your chambers await your timely arrival,” he said, faking a British accent. He held his gloved hand out. Lacinda refused it.

“I’m ready for my quarters.” She needed relaxation, maybe take a nice hot scented bath and get prepared for the swing of things, anything to distract her from the past that never left her alone.

“As you wish, my lady,” he said, again with a British accent. The steward turned, led her across the deck, and down a stairway. She saw men and women following other stewards or each other. Once on board everyone began mingling, even flirting, judging by the tinkling female laughter and deep manly chuckles.

“There will be an announcement left under your door regarding tonight’s dinner seating arrangements. May you enjoy your day and make sure you take time for a relaxing massage. There’s always a masseuse available. Their extension is listed beside your phone. You’ll find your room key there as well.”

Lacinda followed him down a narrow hallway until he stopped in front of a door with an elegantly scrolled number 216.

“This is you. May I answer any questions before I go?”

Lacinda dug in her purse for a tip. Clueless on how much was appropriate and not wanting to give him anything. He got his gratuity when he copped a feel of her breasts.

Author Interview - Margie Church Dec 20

We are very excited to complete our Author Interviews for 2011 with the very talented Margie Church. Margie is here today to chat on how she became a writer, new releases and her books to come in 2012.

Let's give Margie a warm welcome!

Brenda & Steve: Welcome to our blog Margie! We are so excited you stopped by. When did you decide to become a writer? And what genre did you first write under?

Margie: Thank you for having me, and thank you for coping with my crazy schedule. Becoming a writer wasn't a choice for me. I'm hardwired to write. I was first published in the 6th grade and have spent my adult life as a professional writer in corporate and private settings. I became a fiction writer three years ago when I was laid off. I'd been fooling around with some fanfic and one of those pieces eventually became my debut novel, Awakening Allaire. I've always written romance. My debut series is pure romantic suspense because I enjoy reading that myself. Since then, however, I've written m/m, BDSM, and paranormal, but all with an element of suspense.

Brenda & Steve: What inspired you write to erotic romance suspense?

Margie: I like police thrillers and smart plots. I'm a huge fan of John Sanford and Patricia Cornwell, so I wanted to write something I'd read. Although these authors don't usually have sex in their books, Sanford includes romantic elements. I am a die-hard romantic and couldn't leave that out of my books.

Brenda & Steve: You've been very busy releasing several books this year. Tell us a little bit about your latest Nopeming Shores with J. Andrew Lockhart.

Margie: This book was a challenge to me on several levels. First and foremost was writing with Andrew. Because he's a grade school teacher, this book had to have no graphic language or love scenes. My muse raised her eyebrows at me a million times, but the result was utterly beautiful, and I think that even without the graphic language, the love scenes are extremely erotic. Secondly, the story was very emotional. I'm not sure where all the drama came from, but several times I put my head down and bawled like a baby after I finished writing a scene. I've teared up, and become turned on, but never ever cried like this. The story is very compelling – and it does have a HEA. I also had never used poetry as a plot mechanism, and I wondered how readers would receive that element. They've loved all of it.

Brenda & Steve: Was it hard writing with another author or where you two always on the same page?

Margie:  Andrew is a published poet who wrote original haiku for the book. I'd loved his work for such a long time, but didn't have a project that lent itself to working together until Nopeming Shores. The difficult part was coming up with a very detailed synopsis before Andrew would agree to work with me. He wasn't trying to be difficult. He has a career to protect and a lifestyle that doesn't include erotica. He added wonderful insights to the ghost, Gabe, because Andrew had technically died twice after a very serious stroke when he was in his early 30's. Once I cleared those hurdles, working together was very easy. When I reached a point in the story that I needed a poem, I sent the manuscript to him. I never had to ask him to rewrite anything. And when I told him I needed one for the marriage proposal and final farewell, he wasn't intimidated at all. Writing pivotal scenes like those always make me nervous! He did a beautiful job as you will see when you read the book.

Brenda & Steve: Hard as Teak is a best seller on Amazon, congratulations! Please share with us a little bit on this story as well.

Margie: Thank you, it's been very exciting to have my first gay romance skyrocket that way. Hard as Teak is an erotic coming out story. I hadn't intended to write a full novel when I started the story, but Teak and Kevin had other plans. In a nutshell, Kevin has been living a hetero lifestyle that has been unsatisfying and doesn't work. Well duh, he's been in denial about his real sexual orientation. This story doesn't have "female" drama qualities; the men aren't chicks with dicks. If you read the reviews, you'll see that a number of gay men have read this book and say it is quite authentic. Hard as Teak has a number of setups for classic scenes, but you will not get predictable results. There is suspense and some great humor in this book and of course, sizzling sex. It's been on the bestseller lists – especially the gay erotica – since July. Big fun.  Right now, I'm writing a sequel of sorts to this book. One of the other characters, Drew, is getting his own story, Krewe Daddy. Watch for it in the first quarter of 2012.

Brenda & Steve: Do you have a writing ritual or muse to get you in the writing mood?

Margie: If being alive qualifies, then, yes. It may sound sick, but when I'm not writing, I'm often thinking about what I'm writing. I also work as a copywriter/editor so I spend about 60 hours a week writing something or another.

Brenda & Steve: Do you create an outline before beginning a new book or are you a pantser?

Margie: I'm a plotter. And I hate research. It's the ONLY thing that makes me procrastinate.

Brenda & Steve: Do you work on more than one manuscript at a time? And if so how many and how do you keep your notes organized?

Margie: I'm working on two books at a time usually, and since I'm a plotter, I keep very detailed notes about characters, settings and important plot points. I have a lot of trouble remembering my character names and info – go figure – so I have to be diligent.

Brenda & Steve: If you get writer’s block when you’re writing, how do you get around it?

Margie: I talk plot when I drive. I speak out loud what happened in the last scene I wrote, and then talk about what happens next. I speak in dialog. Then I "rewind" and re-say it a couple times. When I get home, it usually flies off my fingertips.

Brenda & Steve: Do you use specialty software when writing your manuscripts?

Margie: Nope

Brenda & Steve: LOL We don’t either! Good ole Microsoft Word, a notepad and pen works for us. Do you have a motto or favorite quote you turn to on tough writing days?

Margie: "Forced Writes Suck." ~ Margie Church”  If I cave into writer's block or whatever the issue is, the work doesn't get done. I write through it. Sometimes I'll have to go back and make significant revisions, but I keep writing.

Brenda & Steve: During an interview what is the hardest or most embarrassing question you have been asked and how did you answer?

Margie: "How did you learn about the way men make love to write Hard as Teak?" That's the most recent one I can recall. The embarrassing questions are usually sexually-related and I usually reply that I research these things carefully. It's not a lie at all. *grins* But what people really want to know is why I write erotica. The sex makes them uncomfortable. At a recent art event, I had people look at my covers and then at me like I was disgusting. I didn’t enjoy that part or hearing that some people gave my buyers a hard time about their purchases. I haven't got nice things to say about that at all, but you're judging the book by its cover. If you're not careful, not only will I make love with you until you can't stand, I'll also kidnap your wife, get you high on coke, pilfer from your retirement fund, shoot you in the forehead and laugh while my partner uses a backhoe to bury you, drain your blood, and beat you half to death because it makes me feel good.

Brenda & Steve: We agree the research for writing erotica is certainly fun! *winks* Now for the fun question. For the hell of it, you entered a sweepstakes not really reading the fine black print. Well guess what you won! HA! You are now the proud owner of the Mirage Camel Farm in Giza, Egypt. Would you sell the farm or fly there and meet your new hump-back spitting friends?

Margie: Oh hell yeah, I'd go there. I love to travel. I'd probably sell it eventually, but here's a photo of me with one of my recent acquisitions!

Scarecrow Fest

Brenda & Steve: OMG! We remember seeing this pic on FB. But didn't even think of it when we created the Fun question. How ironic! LOL Is there anything else you would like to share with the readers?

Margie: Thanks for a great year. For buying my books, for finding me on Facebook, Twitter, and blogs like this one. I hope I'll continue to write books you can't wait to read. To those who don't know me, please come by, say hello and read a sample on my page on AmazonMost of my books are available in print and eBook.

Brenda & Steve: Margie, thank you again for visiting with us. Have a happy holiday and joyous New Year! Readers, Margie is featuring a contest to one luck commenter. Margie, please tell our readers the details.

Margie: Contest: Tell me about the worst Christmas gift you ever GAVE and you could win an eBook of any one my titles.

Blurb:
Nopeming Shores, paranormal (ghost) story by Margie Church with J. Andrew Lockhart

An IED snuffed out Gabe Holliway's life, but couldn't destroy his love. Using his unique gift, Gabe struggles to help his young wife, Lily, rebuild her shattered future.

But when Gabe's ghost reaches out to her, Lily fears she's lost her last hold on sanity. Can she trust what she discovers and what her heart says? When she sees Gabe face-to-face, can she believe her eyes?

When love transcends death, the answers are found in Nopeming Shores.

EXCERPT:

"You want to give your two weeks' notice today?"

She brushed away the last stray tear and sniffled. For the first time since she'd gotten the devastating news of Gabe's death, she breathed normally. "I'm giving my two minutes' notice. I'm sorry if it puts you in a bind, but I have to do this for myself."

She stuck out her hand. "Thanks for everything, Arthur. I've enjoyed working with you."

"Sleep on it. If you change your mind, call me. This conversation never happened."

The tenderness in his eyes touched her, but this was goodbye. To ease his concern, she pasted on a warm smile. "Sure, thank you."

Her lunch bag crackled as she fiddled with the paper sack. "Guess you'll have to find somebody else to pick on about eating these."

Arthur smiled. "Yeah, you're one of a kind, Lily. Good luck. Whatever you do. And come back and visit sometime, when you're feeling up to it. We'd love to see you anytime."

She nodded, and walked out of the room.

Jana stood near the shelves of breakfast items, her gaze fixed on Lily.

"I'm sorry I lost my temper in the parking lot, Jana. It's been a rough few months."

Jana nodded. "It's okay. I wish I could do something to help, but I always keep steppin' in it."

She pointed to Lily's lunch bag. "Want to eat together today?"

"I'm leaving."

"Okay, well, we can do it tomorrow."

Nervous anxiety made Lily's mouth dry as a wool sock. "I'm not just leaving for the day. I quit. Right now. I'm leaving for good."

Jana's eyes widened. "Really?"

Lily felt her shoulders slump in resigned defeat. She nodded.

A quivering frown tugged on the corners of Jana's lips. "I hope this is a good change for you, Lily. And I hope we'll still be friends. I didn't mean to interfere or hurt your feelings."

Emotion clogged Lily's throat. "I know you meant well. I have to work through this myself. Somehow, I have to accept . . . what happened. My life is different. Give me a few days, and I'll call you. I promise."

Jana hugged her and then patted her on the back.

"You take care now." Sadness cloaked her voice. "I'm here if you need me. Don't forget that."

"Thanks."

* * * * *

In his spirit state, Gabe heard and watched the entire scene between his wife and Jana. He stood behind Lily while she said goodbye to Jana. He walked out of the building with Lily to the car. The wind caught a wisp of her hair, and he wished he could tuck it behind her ear. He used to love stroking Lily's soft, wavy tresses.

Not yet. She wasn't ready to know he was close by, trying to help her cope. Hell, he was trying to cope, too. God had given Gabe a chance to help Lily, and himself, but it was all in the timing. Gabe wouldn't get long. The Shepherd of Souls had been very clear about that.

Lily drove out of the parking lot, but instead of taking her usual direct route to the base exits, she drove through the grounds.

In his spirit form, Gabe followed her.

She slowed down near one of the park benches.

We met there. Gabe recalled seeing Lily with her brown-bag lunch when he'd gone jogging on the historic base. She'd caught his eye immediately. Her long, graceful limbs and full lips captivated him. When she smiled, the sun seemed to dim. Her charming demeanor wiped out all his defenses.

She'd shaded her eyes to speak to him. "I've never seen you before."

"I was in Seattle for some training, but I'm stationed here. Are you visiting your husband?"

She'd giggled this wonderful, heart-warming sound, and her face turned the loveliest shade of pink. Gabe knew in that moment, he was pretty much a goner.

"No, I'm not married. I started working at the commissary last week."

"Well, if you have lunch in the park, I'll be seeing you. I jog through here almost every day."

Gabe didn't usually take that route, but he was darn glad he had that day, and every day after. Lily had waited for him, sometimes bringing along an extra bottle of water or a piece of fruit for him. They'd talk for a little while, then he'd finish his run, although his mind was never on physical fitness after he saw Lilianna Carston.

Now Gabe sat on that same bench, remembering the delight in her eyes when he'd asked her to dinner the first time. They'd been almost inseparable after that date. They thought they'd have a lifetime together.

He turned toward her car and saw the strain on her face.

He watched her shoulders rise and fall in a deep sigh before she drove away from the curb.

Gabe didn't get off the bench and follow her. Being dead wasn't exactly halos and fluffy clouds for him.

Brenda & Steve: Wow! What a great excerpt. We feel Lily's anguish already. Can't wait to read the book!

We're so excited you stopped by! If this is your first time, we'd like to introduce ourselves.

Steve Tindle and Brenda Woody were high school friends in Georgia who reconnected, on a social network, after 30 years of leading separate lives. During their re-acquaintance, they found their past and interests were similar; they had written poems, songs, and both had the desire to be published. Their combined experiences and fantasies inspired their first erotic novel "Best Lover in Town", published June 2010.
Brenda moved to Dallas in 2009 to be closer to Steve, start a new chapter of her life and work on future books. Their second book "Temptation Triggers", an anthology of erotic short stories, was published June 2011.

If you have been here before, Welcome back. It's good to see you again!

We'll keep this short and sweet for everyone since there are so many blogs to visit. 193 authors WOW. Each author has a prize to giveaway on their blog. So many chances to win.

This past year has been really exciting for Steve & I with the releases of Black & White Affair and Triangle of Secrets, Book One. The rights to Best Lover in Town were reverted to us so we re-edited and re-released with a new cover. Steve and I moved back to Georgia this past November. It's good to be back home! Okay we mentioned short. Before you hop to next blog here's the sweet. A recipe for Tea Balls. These are delicious. While growing up, I (Brenda) made them every year with my Mom. I hope you enjoy them too and start a new tradition. Oh wait, LOL, we forgot to say what the prize is!

Leave a comment and tell us your favorite holiday dish to eat, ie......pie, cookie, main dish and etc.... If you'd like to leave the recipe that would be cool too. Other readers can copy it. One lucky commenter will win a free copy of choice of Best Lover in Town, Triangle of Secrets, Book One - coupon from Smashwords (eBook format choice) or Temptation Triggers in PDF.

Tea Balls recipe:

1 cup butter, softened
2 1/4 cups flour, all-purpose
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups powdered sugar sifted
3/4 cup walnuts chopped
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions
Position rack in center of the oven and preheat to 375 degrees F.
In a large bowl combine the butter with 1/2 cup of the confectioners sugar; beat with an electric mixture until fluffy, about 1 minute.
With a spoon, stir in the vanilla, flour, salt and walnuts to form a stiff dough.
Using about 2 teaspoons of dough for each cookie, shape half the dough by rolling between hands into balls.
Place about 1 1/2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet and bake about 12 minutes, until just pale golden on the bottom.
Meanwhile, sift 1/2 cup of the remaining confectioner's sugar into a 13 by 9 inch pan.
As soon as cookies are removed from the oven, use a spatula to transfer them to the sugar, tossing them around to coat; let the cookies cool completely in the sugar and then sift 1/4 cup more sugar over them to coat.
Repeat with the remaining cookie dough, using powered sugar, divided as before, to coat.

Author Interview - Adriana Kraft Dec 16

Adriana Kraft is the pen name for a happily married pair of hopeless romantics who love to read and write hot sex about bi women, and the loves in their lives.  What else do they love? Well, read on and you'll find out!

By day Adri Ana are serious academics with backgrounds in social science and human services. At night? Possibilities seem endless as they love to come out and play. Their erotic romance novels celebrate more than consensual mind-blowing sex – they feature strong story lines, heroes and heroines you’ll fall in love with, passion, and profound connectedness.

Join us as we welcome this erotic writing duo to our blog today. There's giveaway and how to play is the at bottom. *wink*

Brenda & Steve: Welcome to our blog Adri Ana! LOL There’s two of you, so clever. How long have you been writing as a duo and are there parts one ‘dazzles in’ over the other (besides the hero & heroine parts). Like is one better at location scenes; inner thought scenes; high-tension scenes? We know you both rock on sex scenes. LOL How do you work together and make it blend?

Adriana: Thanks for picking up on our stage names – Adri for him, Ana for me! Just for that I’ll give you both our avatars to post!

Our solution might not work for everyone – we start with an idea kernel, spend a lot of time together getting to know our characters and developing the broad plot arc, and then one of us starts putting the story on the page. We read each segment out loud together and discuss it before moving on to the next segment. Sometimes one of us has to go back and add scenes in or seriously modify something that’s on the page, but we keep going until we have a draft. Then we take turns editing the heck out of the entire draft – so much so, that usually we lose track of how many times each of us has been through it. Tedious, but it pays off.

Brenda & Steve: Was one of you already a published author before teaming up?

Adriana: Both of us were pubbed in other fields (academic, social sciences, if you must know!) but not in fiction. In the beginning that made for a pretty steep learning curve!

Brenda & Steve: What inspired you to write erotic romance? Was this your first choice of genre?

Adriana: Hmm. Both of us harbored secret dreams of writing fiction since childhood but took other career paths. Over a decade ago we decided to make those dreams a priority. We’d both been avid romance readers and thought it would be fun (and not too hard!) to write them. I think we started pretty blindly – but we took lots of workshops, read books on the craft, joined RWA National and our local chapter, and started submitting romantic suspense to publishers and agents. We actually got good feedback from an agent who said she couldn’t use what we’d sent her, but she thought we handled sexual tension well. That was our launching point, pretty much – writing something we enjoy and write well.

Brenda & Steve: Tell us a little about your latest release Dare to Adventure, from the Swinging Games series.

Adriana: I think we both have a soft spot in our heart for the hero/heroine of this series – they’re a baby boomer couple, kids are grown, and the wife has finally figured out she’s bisexual, but just turning on to hot f/f fiction and videos isn't enough. She wants the real thing, and she want to share it with her husband. They turn to swinging, both to spice up their own sex life, and so she can share her new-found sexuality with her husband. It’s a series of quick reads – short stories or novellas, actually. Perfect to devour in an evening, alone or together *smiles*. Dare to Adventure is Book Seven in the series, and drops in on the couple just as they’re getting to know a single female – in swing lifestyle terms, the ever-elusive Unicorn. Here’s the blurb:

Brett and Jen Andrews enjoy a decadent weekend with their latest lover – the recently widowed Sarah Preston. Have they finally found their Unicorn? But Sarah is called away to care for family members before they can reconnect. Undaunted, they take their newest young protégés to an on-premise Swing Club for a stupendous evening of raw sex and voyeurism. They follow up with another house party, but this time their best friend Ryan discovers Brett is bi. Will Ryan flee, or will he join in?

EXCERPT
“I checked email this morning.” Jen arched an eyebrow and knew she had Brett’s attention.
“And?”
“Sarah’s coming back next weekend. Sounds like her parents are settling in nicely at the retirement complex and she’s getting bored. Also, she’s getting tired of hotel living and restaurant food.”
Brett chuckled. “I bet you’ll volunteer to have some home cooking ready for her when she gets back.”
“Oh, yeah. We chatted briefly about it online this morning. She’s thinking a large serving of cock a la mode would go down quite nicely.”
“Damn.”
“And she wanted me to tell you that she’s warming a tangy dessert for you and me to share.”
Brett wet his lips. “And we have to wait how long till she gets here?”
“Six days. Sarah’s really eager to get together again. Apparently she’s thought about us a lot—with vibrator in hand.”
“Jesus. What don’t you women talk about?”
Jen blew him a kiss. “She was also wondering if you might be up for a little phone sex tonight to tide us all over.”
            “Phone sex?”
“It would be a first.”
“I wouldn’t know where to begin.”
“Sounds like Sarah thinks she knows how to begin. I expect you’ll know how to finish.”
Brett shook his head and then broke into a wide smile. “How did I get so lucky to fall in love with you?”
“Because I had a rope strong enough to tie you down. Now then, I’ve got lots to do yet today before we call Sarah.” She stood and brushed her lips across Brett’s. “You might want to give a little thought before tonight to how you’ll turn on a widow nearly two thousand miles away.”

Brenda & Steve: How many books are published in this series and do you plan to write more installments?

Adriana: Seven are published, Book Eight is due out in January, Book Nine is drafted and we really don’t know where this series will end – we keep thinking of new adventures we’d like to send them on. I’m pretty sure we’ll give them a lifestyle cruise, maybe a convention, and a tropical lifestyle resort. But first they’ve got to sort out what it means to be in a three way relationship – will Jen really want to share Sarah with anyone else? Trouble looms!!

Brenda & Steve: With 30 books or more published, do you outline a new book or do you write by the seat of your pants (a pantser?)

Adriana: I suspect when two people write together it’s hard to be a pantser – it takes a lot of coordination and planning. We don’t create highly detailed outlines, but we do plan a broad story arc, and we get to know our characters in depth. By the time we start writing, they feel pretty real to us, and we have much more information about them than will ever go on the page. All that background drives who they are, what they care about and why, what they’re afraid of, what they’re willing to go after. It’s amazing, actually, how much of the story the characters themselves seem to write once we’ve gotten to know them.

Brenda & Steve: Do you keep notes and how do you keep your work organized?

Adriana: Your question got me thinking – funny thing is, our books actually start their life on a traditional yellow pad! The first sketchy ideas go on a physical page with a pencil, in not much order, with lots of scribbled add-ons. The yellow pad stays active throughout the process as we read the scenes out loud and plot the upcoming details. That might seem archaic in the computer age, but it seems simpler. It works for us!

Brenda & Steve: What is the best advice you have given or received as authors?

Adriana: One and the same: Never give up! I heard Judith Viorst (Necessary Losses, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day) speak a couple decades ago at a women’s conference – she spent something like ten years religiously sending manuscripts out and getting rejected before she was finally published. That has always stuck with me.

Brenda & Steve: What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?

Adriana: In the beginning, how difficult it really is to do this work! I think something we’ve struggled with throughout is that the characters become so real to us; we sometimes attribute qualities and intentions to them that we haven’t necessarily made clear to the reader. We’ve fallen in love with the characters, but we have to make sure the reader falls in love with them. I find we have to get really tough minded in the editing phase and question everything to accomplish this.

Brenda & Steve: What are some of your other interests/hobbies when not writing?

Adriana: We love to travel, and have a motorhome (that we don’t get to spend enough time in). Being outdoors and active, whatever the season – hiking and biking in the summer, cross-country skiing in the winter. Just watching and absorbing this incredible natural world we live in (and sometimes taking photographs). And of course reading! We’re also social activists, so working with others on campaigns and causes we care about is another priority.

Brenda & Steve: Tell us about your current and future projects. What is on the horizon?

Adriana: Two series that are continuing – Swinging Games, as I’ve already mentioned, and a series at Whiskey Creek, set in New York at a (fictitious) Center for Sexuality and Sex Practices. Two full length novels are out in the Whiskey Creek series: Smoldering Passion and Ripening Passion, and two more are drafted and currently in edits.

For the future? We started out writing suspense (Adri is a criminologist), and we’ve begun working on some manuscripts that combine a suspense line with erotic romance. Kind of going back to our roots, but bringing everything we’ve learned with us.

Brenda & Steve: Ohh, we love suspense reads! Now for the fun question. Milton Bradley is venturing into creating erotic board games for two or more players. Their design team has asked you to create a game that involves a board, dice or cards and the ultimate sex toy. What board scenario would you design, what would be the name of the game and what toy would you design? And give us brief instructions on how to play.

Adriana: Sounds like the perfect ice breaker for meeting a new swinging couple! Hmm, seriously, can we patent this? It’s for four or more. We’ll call it Let the Games Begin! The ultimate sex toy is kind of like a wireless central control panel with multiple apps – a rabbit, for her pleasure, a vibrating masturbator for him, vibrating lace panties with a remote control, a silver bullet for anyone’s fave orifice, finger-vibrators, haven’t decided what all else we’d add! The game involves both cards and a pair of dice. The dice are rolled to advance the player on the board. The gameboard is set up a little like Monopoly – you advance from start to finish, some squares will send you back a few spaces if you land on them, some squares tell you to pick up a card and some squares tell you to take the next item of clothing off someone. The cards tell you what toy to use – and one of the rules is you can only use the toy on flesh that’s already exposed. In all cases, the rule is you must carry out the action on an opposite sex participant who is not your partner (swingers who are bi can vary the rules about who does what to whom, of course). First person to reach the finish gets to completely choreograph what pleasurable experience   they’d like the other participants to deliver for them, and hopefully all parties are pretty much naked and aroused by the time someone wins (I think they all win, though, in the end)!

Brenda & Steve: Ummmm, this game sounds awesome and so naughty. What are some of the promotional methods you use? What works or doesn’t?

Adriana: If we truly knew what works, we’d patent that too! The book world and the internet in general are changing so fast that whatever worked yesterday has to constantly be re-examined and upgraded. We’re getting our website overhauled in January, focusing on Twitter and FaceBook for connecting with readers, still dropping occasional promos at reader groups, and starting to publish our own reviews of other authors we’ve read and liked over at Amazon. Plus, as you can surely tell, guest blogging and hosting authors we like at our blog!

Brenda & Steve: Is there anything else you would like to share with the readers?

Adriana: After that game? It might be time for a break *winks*! Here are some places to find us:

This Week's Featured Author - Robin Greene

Robin's BIO:

Robin Greene is the Dark Sensations-exclusive penname from an often-published erotic romance writer.
Robin splits her living arrangement, spending summers in the northern United States near where the fictional city of Frostbite Falls, Minnesota allegedly was.
Get a little lost, and with one wrong turn, you’re in a foreign country. During the summer she’s very much the country girl, enjoying hunting, fishing, boating and being outdoors.
Robin almost always spends her winters in Key West, Florida, though with all the changes being done to her favorite winter fantasy land, she’s likely to choose a new destination this winter.
There are certain locations in the Caribbean that are tempting, and Robin likes giving in to temptation. Her only real winter-time requirements are sandy beaches, and nothing but bikinis for at least one straight month.
She has been the featured author on the syndicated weekly television show CBS Sunday Morning in 2006, and was named “Third Best All-time” for sexy-romances sans bad plot by Amazon.com’s ListMania.
She was recently awarded a Silver Star (essentially a sixth star in a five star rating system)from an historical romance novella she had published.
Her paperbacks have been sold worldwide, and have been translated into German, Chinese, Romanian, and Thai.

Robin's new romantic-erotic story is out - Tales of the Forbidden: Sex for Profitts

In the steamy community of Key Lazlo, the Proffits are the most powerful family around. Desiree Proffit has never been one to let anyone or anything stand in the way of her adventures. But when taboo passion comes to the fore, the Proffits become vulnerable to blackmail. Savage violence and uninhibited desires fill the pages of this erotic, taboo drama!

You can find Robin on the web sites below, if you can break away from her Facebook icon and photos. LOL She is gorgeous and sweet!

Renee Vincent - Historical and Contemporary Romance Author

We are very excited to feature Renee Vincent this week! Renee has just released her third book, The Fall of Rain, for the Emerald Isle Trilogy. When Renee is not writing, she is busy taking care of her family and farm in Kentucky. You can read more about Renee on her Author Bio page.

Renee Vincent is an acclaimed author of Irish and Norse history. Her book Ræliksen won two awards by Love Romances Cafe: "Best Book Cover 2010" and "Best Historical 2010" and Mac Liam won the “5 Heart Sweetheart” Award from The Romance Studio. She also ventured into writing contemporary romance with Silent Partner which was released April 2010.

Renee was also one of the first Facebook friends/authors to feature Steve and I on her blog a year ago this month! We are grateful she helped promote our first book. Without further a do, let's welcome Renee this week to our blog.

Brenda & Steve: Renee, welcome to our blog and new place for author interviews! When did you start writing historical romance?

Renee: As a child, I’d always had the dream of being a writer someday. After taking an English Lit class in high school with one of the best teachers around (and reading about The Iliad and The Odyssey, Beowulf and Grendel, Romeo and Juliet, Wuthering Heights etc.) my interest in devoted warrior heroes, particularly the Vikings, grew along with my desire to write the next greatest love story.

I remember reading my first historical romance (given to me by my mother-in-law) and of course, it was a Viking/Irish romance. I’ll admit, the cover caught my attention with a dark-haired buxom Irish lass draped within the strong arms of a tall blond Viking. Anyway, I read it and, given my passion for the men of the North, I knew from that moment on, I wanted to write historical romance featuring the bold, brazen warriors of the Viking Age.

Brenda & Steve: Where do you draw your inspiration from?

Renee: My goodness, lots of things. Sometimes it’s a song that helps me to create that perfect scene in my head. Other times, it might be a place that strikes a chord within me.

I often go horseback riding and, during those wonderful quiet moments as I sit atop the saddle, I get to take in nature. As a writer, I key in to the sounds, the smells, and the way the sun comes through the trees and highlights certain otherwise mundane objects. I can pretty well find inspiration in just about anything.

Brenda & Steve: Tell us a little bit about your new release The Fall of Rain from the Emerald Isle Trilogy.

Renee: It’s the final book of the trilogy, a story that is so dear to my heart. The first two books, Ræliksen and Mac Liam, carry the reader along a twist-filled journey of a love triangle between two very different heroes who love the same woman. The Fall of Rain is a beautiful tale of reincarnation that will bring the reader full circle, adding a much-needed closure for the characters involved.

Here's the blurb:
Leif Dæganssen, an archeologist from Norway, is determined to trace back his Scandinavian roots as far as the Dark Ages and find proof of their existence on the Emerald Isle. After several years of living off the west coast of Ireland, he finally uncovers an ancient artifact—an intricately decorated chest with pagan carvings—buried beneath the very porch of his coastal cottage. Knowing it only confirms the presence of a glorified Norse-influenced settlement on Inis Mór, he’s determined to establish a link between himself and those who once inhabited the rugged isle.

For as long as she can remember, Lorraine O’Connor has had dreams of a Norse warrior kissing her. And even though she’s never fully understood the reason for her vivid subconscious imagination, she welcomes the meaningless and wanton pleasure of being in a Viking’s protective embrace—until the day she meets that brazen Northman on an impulsive vacation trip to Ireland.

Though blindsided by the relevance of her dreams and the strange familiarity of the man within them, Lorraine can’t help but feel a deep-seated intimacy toward Leif. And the more she gets to know him, the more she’s convinced they’ve shared a life together in a time long forgotten.

Are the clues to their ancestral past hidden within the contents of the chest or buried deep within their hearts?

Reviews and awards for Emerald Isle Trilogy

Ræliksen
*Winner of two categories by Love Romances Café
“Best Book Cover 2010”
“Best Historical 2010”

“This book and author earn my highest recommendations and I feel privileged to have read one of the best. It is a must read for any lover of historical romance or even lovers of romance in general.”
~ 5 Stars TOP PICK ~ Night Owl Reviews

“…this story is realistic, historically accurate and unforgettable; a story you will remember long after the last page is read.”
~ 5 Blue Ribbons! ~ Romance Junkies

Mac Liam
*Winner of the “5 Heart Sweetheart” Award
from The Romance Studio

“It comes alive and winds its way into your heart. This is a must-read for anyone who enjoys historical romance and I cannot wait to read the final book of the trilogy as this story has stayed with me days after I read the last word.”
~ 5 Hearts ~ The Romance Studio

“I will admit to being skeptical that this story would capture me as much as the first had, but I was blown away by the awesomeness that is Mac Liam. Ms. Vincent surpassed all of my expectations with her impressive writing abilities, while offering more incites and revelations that will keep readers coming back for more.”
~ 5 Stars TOP PICK ~ Night Owl Reviews

“The steadfast, true love Ms. Vincent creates in Mac Liam takes one’s breath away.
A memorable, satisfying story!”
~ 4.5 Books ~ Long And Short Reviews

Brenda & Steve: Wow, congratulations on the awards and great reviews! Do you plan to write more installments for this trilogy and if so how many?

Renee: I’ve gotten many requests for stories about other characters who are introduced throughout the trilogy. One in particular, is Gustaf, the eldest brother of Dægan Ræliksen, and his new found love, Æsa. Their story will be told in the upcoming December 2012 release, The Temperate Warrior, which will begin the Warrior Saga Series. I have hopes of writing two other books in this series, but the heroes have yet to be determined.

Brenda & Steve: You added Contemporary Romance to your writer’s resume. What inspired you to write Silent Partner?

Renee: It was the morning after I signed my three-book contract with Turquoise Morning Press in 2010. During the long drive from Indiana to Kentucky, I plotted the whole thing out in my head. I pitched it to my publisher a few weeks later and bam! I signed another contract for it. It was my first attempt at a contemporary and I’ve been very pleased with the feedback from romance readers and reviewers.

Silent Partner Reviews

"Ms. Vincent’s writing has the unique ability of capturing both the reader’s heart and mind… I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this story and would love to see it become a movie. Another highly recommended read by Renee Vincent!"
~ "5 Star TOP PICK" ~ Night Owl Reviews

Her writing sparkles, and given this is the author’s first attempt at contemporary mainstream romance, she creates the right impact for settings, pace and conflict. Her balance of the self-absorbed hero meeting emotionally challenged heroine is stunning because of her research into the heroine’s background. This book is a keeper."
~ "LASR BEST BOOK" ~ Long And Short Reviews

Brenda & Steve: Who is your favorite character from one of your stories and why?

Renee: Hands down, Dægan Ræliksen. He is essentially my first born and the first man, aside from my husband, to keep me up at all hours of the night. He and I have spent many glorious hours together. *wink*

Brenda & Steve: If you get writer’s block when you’re writing, how do you get around it?

Renee: I walk away. It might be for days, or even weeks. But I don’t push the writing. If I force the words upon the paper, the readers will recognize it right away and I don’t want that kind of struggle to come out in my writing. In a good romance story, there is no room for writer inadequacies. I’d rather leave the conflicts to the hero and heroine.

Brenda & Steve: Where’s your favorite place to write?

Renee: On a daily basis, I have an office. But if I had the ability to go somewhere else and write, it would be in a little cottage in Ireland. I’d love to take a 4-month hiatus away from the world and write from one of the most beautiful places on the earth. A girl can dream right?

Brenda & Steve: Oh yes! I have always dreamed of visiting Ireland too. How do you get yourself in the mood to write?

Renee: A cup of coffee usually does it for me. Honestly, I’m always in the mood to write. Sometimes, that gets in the way of normal day-to-day life as I have these scenes in my head that won’t leave me alone until I write them down. If only I could write as fast as I conjure them up.

Brenda & Steve: I think most authors keep the coffee brewing all day. LOL What genres do you enjoy reading and who is your favorite author?

Renee: I LOVE historical romances (Viking and Highlander), but on occasion, I’ll pick up a contemporary. My favorite authors are Margaret Ethridge, Kimberly Killion, Nora Roberts, Johanna Lindsey, Elizabeth Lowell, Donna MacMeans, Lori Foster….the list goes on.

Brenda & Steve: What was your ideal career when you were a child?

Renee: Author. That’s all I ever wanted.

Brenda & Steve: What’s the best writing tip you’ve ever received and/or given?

Renee: This was from my father, though he said it to encompass everything in my life: You can’t do everything. But you can anything with God.

Brenda & Steve: NASA has found a new star in our solar system. They held an essay contest and the winner gets to name the star. You won! What would you name the star?

Renee: Love this question as I’m a big fan of the constellations. My favorites are Orion and Cassiopeia. Given that I often look up to the sky when I talk with my sister (who passed in 2005), it would be the coolest to actually have something to “see” when I gaze into the night sky. Its name would be LINDSEY.

Brenda & Steve: I read about your sister on you BIO. That would be a very appropriate name for a star, Renee! Which would be your choice for a romantic evening: dinner and then a stroll on the beach in the moonlight or a movie, popcorn, cuddling on the sofa? If you have something else in mind please share!

Renee: Dinner and the beach in the moonlight. I love beaches. Always have. My bedroom wall (as a teen) used to be plastered with photo of beaches from magazines, photo books, and photos of past vacations. No one could see the color of the wall behind them. It drove my mother crazy. And the moonlit walk because I love the ambiance that a full moon creates. There’s just something so romantic about moonlight, no matter where you are.

Brenda & Steve: Thank you again for stopping by our blog this week. Readers, Renee has agreed to give a book from her back list - choice of book - to one lucky commenter through random draw. Just leave a comment, your email address (please leave your email - helps us contact the winner) and be sure to visit Renee's web sites below.
